F3K Holešov 2022
2022/06/25-26 | Ondřej Rezler

In Holešov I finally managed to win. I usually ruined most of the big competitions on the last day and often on the last lap. But this time everything saddled me and I didn't hesitate except one task.

F3K in Holešov is always a big challenge. Many competitors from abroad have been going there for many years. This year, 32 pilots met. This was great, because the last F3K in Běchovice was canceled due to lack of interest. It was worse with the conditions. Steamer and on Saturday a wind of around 4 m/s. When I left the airport on Sunday, my car showed me an outside temperature 36 °C. The wind was perhaps not so surprising, because without it it probably wouldn't have been Holešov.

We flew 15 laps at a great pace. The more demanding tasks were also selected, such as One Throw (for 10 minutes) and perhaps an even more insidious task, and that is Two Throws (for 5 minutes each). The first mentioned task is a masterpiece for Víťa Zdeněk, who, like last year, knocked out wolfhounds pulling on the front rungs with a waiting tactic.

I couldn't win without good helpers. Hozna Šimlík advised and predicted the air flawlessly both days. During those years of practice with freebies and RC‘s, it is already in his blood. Tibor Habara came to advise me on the remaining tasks. Only there did I learn that he was a glider and how he divided the area into sections where there could be good air. I will probably have to go to him before the World Championships for training.

At the end, I won the competition with just a little hesitation. The second one was Vláďa Müller, a long-time fighter and with just a short distance behind him, our junior representative Martin Popovský in third place. At fourth place was Honza Šimlik, who advised me most of the day. At Honza, I like how he feels about thermals and how he thinks about it all over the air.

The next competition will be in Běchovice again. I'm looking forward to meeting great friends again.

Unfortunately, Martin Popovský is our only junior. But since last year, he has made himself known with better and better results. Martin Fujera mostly whispered to him and it really testify to them together. Martin finished in 5th place. The fourth place was taken by Pavel Krištof, who did not succeed in mentioned task One Throw. Another representative, Ivo Bratršovský, took the 3rd place. The second was probably currently the most famous Polish F3K racer Cezary Janas. I managed to win with 13 x 1000 and one 999. I don't even remember such an interplay of luck. I hope i did't waste all my luck for upcoming World Cup.

I flew the competition with two types of gliders. I took the new CX 5 in the wind and I had my Maat 3 for catching tasks and in weaker conditions. I also thank the sponsors, without which I would not succeed. They are KST servos and equipment from the JeTi model.
